About Us

In 2000, Courtney Wisely dreamed of starting a community theatre. Twenty-two years later, in Festus, MO, that dream became reality. Spotlight Community Theatre, founded in March 2022, quickly grew to over 200 members.

In their first three years, the theatre produced eleven one-act plays, a full-length radio play, three talent showcases, two full length plays, a junior musical and three full-length musicals. Each year, the theatre group continues to grow and thrive and it is now very common for their shows to sell out before opening night.

These productions were the work of thousands of hours from the Spotlight family throughout the years and something that each person can be proud of. The Spotlight members became a family and collaborated under one unified mission. Each person brought something unique and needed to the table! Aside from productions, they participate in multiple town events such as Twin City Days, Spooktacular, and the Christmas Parade.

Courtney now serves as Executive Director with the support of an incredibly dedicated and passionate Board of Directors at her side. Courtney and the Spotlight family are excited to see what the future holds and continue inspiring and entertaining the residents of Jefferson County through performance arts and arts education for years to come!
